It’s time for a team activity and nobody wants another lunch with speeches. An escape room is one of the few team-building activities in Barcelona that works without forced exercises: the room does the work. Here’s how to organise it step by step.
Why an escape room works for team building
For 90 or 100 minutes, the team has to communicate, share out roles, delegate and decide fast against the clock. You quickly see who leads, who spots the detail nobody else saw and who keeps calm. Best of all, people remember it far longer than any company dinner.
It works especially well for:
- New teams or people who barely know each other: it breaks the ice fast.
- Remote teams finally together in the same city.
- Project wrap-ups or end-of-year celebrations.
Step 1: work out your group size
Each room takes 2 to 7 people. If you are more than 7, you play at the same time in both rooms (Awaken and Achijira) and we split the teams however you like: by department, or mixed so people get to know each other.
Step 2: choose the intensity
This is the key decision, because not everyone on a team has the same tolerance:
- Horror (16+): for competitive teams. Real scares and stories for the rest of the year.
- Mystery / Tension (12+): tension without so many scares. Investigation and pressure.
- Adventure (12+): no scares. Challenges and pure teamwork; the safe option for mixed groups.

Tips for a smooth event
- Book ahead. Fridays and Saturdays fill up weeks in advance, even more so as December approaches.
- Ask the team about scares first, and if in doubt choose Adventure or Mystery.
- Tell us about any special needs before booking: the rooms are not wheelchair accessible, and we adapt the briefing for deaf or hard-of-hearing players.
- Leave time for afterwards: the debrief and the laughs on the way out are part of the team building.
- Easy to reach: metro L2 (Bac de Roda and Sant Martí) and bus H10, 3 minutes’ walk.
